Proofreading
“Proofreading is often overlooked or now left to AI, but Zara’s human touch, expertise, and ability to view your book from a reader’s perspective have been crucial in creating a professional and engaging final product that I’ve been very proud of.”

Proofreading
You have spent ages creating your book; it is literally your baby!
After all that hard work, you need to be sure that your book is perfect and print-ready before it goes to print. That’s where I come in as your proofreader…
Although I have completed an editing course, I am solely a proofreader so your text should have been edited and preferably typeset before coming to me for a final proofread. Learn more about the differences between editing and proofreading here.
Once your book or document arrives with me, it will undergo a thorough review from start to finish, focusing on grammar, punctuation, spelling and layout issues.
I do not use AI to proofread. While AI tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly can be valuable tools for many, it is not a substitute for human judgement and expertise.
I will meticulously polish your work to perfection, using Track Changes or PDF mark-ups to correct any errors and ensure a clean final document that you can confidently present.
Whether it's business reports, creative writing, or any other type of content, my goal is to provide you with an accurate and reliable proofreading service that supports your communication goals effectively and helps elevate your writing to the next level.
The cost includes one round of proofreading and two rounds of amends. Unless you have provided me with one from your editor, I will create a personalised style sheet for you. A style sheet ensures consistency and contains all style decisions, including whether numbers are expressed as words or numerals, plus the usage of the Oxford comma.
The pricing varies based on factors, so please contact me for a quote. As a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), my hourly rate aligns with industry standards recommended by the CIEP.
While I aim to provide excellent services to clients, it is essential to acknowledge that no editor or proofreader, including myself, can guarantee a manuscript will be entirely free of errors. However, I will treat your book like my baby, and make sure it receives lots of TLC!
"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." – Margaret Fuller
I firmly believe that books have the power to empower individuals, yet sadly, not everyone has access to this valuable resource.
That is why, for every book I work on, I will donate to Book Aid International.
Every £2 donated will enable a brand-new book to be sent to someone who desperately wants to read.
Book Aid International send books to many communities, including schools, communities, refugee camps, prisons and hospitals. Over half of the books donated by Book Aid International are children’s books. Visit the Book Aid International website to learn more about their vision and mission.
Together, we can help provide books to those in need and make a positive impact on literacy and education worldwide. Join me in supporting this important cause and let's make a difference through the gift of reading.
